Jamaica's Secret Treasures

Cane River in St. Thomas, one of Jamaica's secret treasures.
It is also said to have been one of Bob Marley's hideaways.

Despite the problems being experienced in Jamaica no one can dispute the fact that Jamaica is one of the most beautiful places on Gods earth. Unfortunately most of us don’t get the time to explore and appreciate what we have as we should. It is usually when we have relatives or friends visiting that we get out a bit.
That’s a pity, for we have so many ‘treasure spots’ here in Jamaica. There are the very popular spots such as Dunns River Falls, Green Grotto caves, Boston Jerk center, Chukka Cove, Black River Safari, Jakes Treasure beach to name a few.

Follow up:

Then there are those spots that are not so popular but just as enjoyable such as Cranbrook Farms, Reach falls, Summerset Falls, None such caves, Hollywell and the list go on.
Jamaica also has some secret treasure spots which are simply awesome. One such hideaway my husband and I found recently is Cane River in St. Thomas. It’s tucked away in the Dallas Hills behind what seems like a cave formed from gigantic rocks. You do have to tackle about 99 steps from the cave mouth to get to it but the exercise is worth it. The rock formation is incredible. There is a small water falls coming from the rocks which cascade in to the river below. The ambiance is breathtaking, tranquil and relaxing. It is also said to have been one of Bob Marley’s hideaway. No wonder, it’s easy to see how one could be inspired in such a place.
The drive from Kingston is about 45 minutes traveling east along the south coast, then another 15 minutes up to the Dallas Hill. You can pack your dinner and have a picnic. Along the way you must stop and buy some sweetsops, guineps, naseberries or whatever fruits are in season. It doesn’t have to coat a fortune. So next time you are in Jamaica, don’t stay indoors, get out and experience some of Jamaica’s Treasures.
Nuff Love.

Bruk Pocket Jamaican

"Recently, this Jamaican won the 10 million special lottery for a dollar. As soon as the office of the Lottery Corporation was open on the following day, he was there to collect his winnings.

Graciously, he presented his winning ticket to the clerk and in his best English uttered his request "Me cum fi collect the 10 millian dallars, si me ticket ya".

After reviewing and checking the ticket with his manager, the clerk returned and requested on how he would like his payments. The Jamaican replied "Mi wan all a de moni now". "Unfortunately, Sir" the nervous clerk responded, "The procedures are that we can only give you one million now and the balance equally over the next 20 years".

Furious and agitated, the Jamaican asked for the manager, who re-iterated "Sir, my assistant is correct, it is the regulation of the corporation that we initially pay you one million dollars now with the balance paid to you equally over the next 20 years".

Outraged, the Jamaican slammed his hand on the desk and shouted in anger, "Oonu tek me fi idiat, me wan all a de moni now or oonu gi me bak me rass dallar!!"
