Jamaican Children at Risk

As the crime situation continues to deteriorate in Jamaica the incidents of abduction, rape and murders seem to have become the order of the day. Not only have these monsters targeted our women but incidents of attacks on our children have also escalated. No, this is not new however the frequency is very alarming.
Early July 2005, Shanna-Kay Legister, 9, and Sheneka Shakes, 8, both grade three students of the Town Head Primary School, were found in canfields a mile apart, a day after they went missing. The girls had been both been abducted, raped and murdered.

Follow up:

In October 2005, a 13-year-old female student from Trench Town High School was taken from her class and raped at gunpoint.
On Wednesday, October 05,2005 10 year old Sasha-Kay and three members of her family were burnt to death on Barnes Avenue in Maxfield Avenue, South West St. Andrew. What kind of creature could stand by and watch as Sasha- Kay climbed up the grill on the veranda crying out in pain as the fire engulfed her and not respond.
On Wednesday October 12, 2005 Enid Gordon a fourth-form student of the Petersfield High School went missing. Her father later found her in a shallow grave near her home. Enid had been strangled with her school tie, and her body was still attired in her school uniform. The police confirmed that on October 20 last year, two men in the district where she lived raped Enid. The men were arrested but are now out on bail. The matter was set for hearing on October 18.
Last Thursday October 20, 2005 three women were abducted from a small bar at First Street, Newport West at about 9:00 pm. The women were gang-raped, beaten, shot and then thrown into a sewage main off the Greenwich Town treatment plant. Miraculously one of the women survived the ordeal, and is now under police protection.
And the headlines continue, "Fifteen year old abducted and raped”,” Teenager abducted from school”, “ body found in bushes." It has become the norm on the news and in the papers. Where will it end?
One thought is that there needs to be harsher punishments meted out to the offenders when caught. Most of us wants to see the law taking its course however we are not exactly sad when ever the communities take matters into their own hands. It may not be right but seems to be the only kind of justice in these cases. It’s time for the Government to take action.

Three Ministers

Three ministers - a Presbyterian, a Methodist, and a Southern Baptist and their wives were all on a cruise together. A tidal wave came up and swamped the ship, and they all drowned. The next thing you know, they're standing before St.Peter.

As fate would have it, the first in line was the Presbyterian and his wife. St. Peter shook his head sadly and said, "I can't let you in. You were moral and upright, but you loved money too much. You loved it so much, you even married a woman named Penny."

St.Peter waved sadly, and poof! Down the chute to the 'Other Place' they went. Then came the Methodist. "Sorry, can't let you in either," said Saint Peter "You abstained from liquor and dancing and cards, but you loved food too much.

You loved food so much, you even married a woman named Candy!" Sadly, St. Peter waved again, and whang! Down the chute went the Methodists.

The Southern Baptist turned to his wife and whispered nervously, "It ain't looking good, Fanny."
