Rising Star 2005, Christopher Martin

Christopher Martin, the humble 18 year old from Back Pasture, St Catherine was tonight named the winner of the Rising Star competition 2005. After the fiasco at Emancipation Park last Friday, September 23, 2005 a closed staging of the final chapter of the show was aired tonight on TVJ.

Follow up:

The organizers obviously were not prepared to run the risk of a repeat performance when the show had to be called to a halt as scores of fans who had come from far and near became uncontrollable. They have however promised to hold several concerts with not only the two finalist but also several of the top contenders from the competition.
The two finalists Noddy Virtue and Christopher Martin tonight proved once again that they are both winners. Not only did they perform individually trilling the audience, they also performed together in a show of solidarity. ‘Bway, dem caa sing’. Christopher has a powerful voice and with guidance should reach the very top of his game. He is truly gifted, still a bit immature, but hey, he is only 18 years. Noddy on the other hand is a performer. He knows what the ladies want and gives it to them.
After six long months the rising star competition has finally come to an end tonight. In my opinion the best singer won. I hope he doesn’t allow the money and fame to detract him from his goal of completing his education. With a recording contract in the bag his future in music looks very bright. He strikes me as a very ‘mannasable’ young man and I hope that he never loses his air of humility and respectfulness. We need more positive role models to other young ‘want to be’ stars in Jamaica.

Sister Mary Margaret

SISTER MARGARET MARY, WHO WORKS FOR A LOCAL HOME HEALTH AGENCY WAS OUT MAKING HER ROUNDS WHEN SHE RAN OUT OF GAS.

AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT A GAS STATION WAS JUST A BLOCK AWAY.

SHE WALKED TO THE STATION TO BORROW A CAN OF GAS TO START & THEN DRIVE TO THE STATION FOR A FILL UP.

THE ATTENDANT REGRETFULLY TOLD HER THE ONLY GAS CAN HE OWNED HAD BEEN LOANED OUT BUT IF SHE WOULD WAIT, IT WAS SURE TO BE BACK SHORTLY.

SINCE THE NUN ! WAS ON THE WAY TO SEE A PATIENT SHE DECIDED NOT TO WAIT & SHE WALKED BACK TO THE CAR. AFTER LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO FILL WITH GAS, SHE SPOTTED A BEDPAN SHE WAS TAKING TO THE PATIENT.

ALWAYS RESOURCEFUL, SHE CARRIED IT TO THE STATION & FILLED IT WITH GASOLINE, & CARRIED IT TO HER CAR.

AS SHE WAS POURING THE GAS INTO THE TANK, TWO MEN WERE WATCHING FROM ACROSS THE STREET. ONE OF THEM TURNED TO THE OTHER & SAID, "IF IT STARTS, I'M TURNING CATHOLIC".
